Boonville Now! is excited to announce that work has commenced on Johnson Park, located on the corner of Locust and Second Street in Boonville.
The park officially named Johnson Park is named in honor of C. Richard Johnson and Verna Louise Johnson of Boonville. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were the long time owners of the local newspaper, The Boonville Standard. The Boonville Standard was started in 1875 and was originally owned by Mr. Charles Johnson, “Dick” Johnson’s father.
The Johnsons were humble in their philanthropy, not only in Boonville but with other passions that included education, music and the publishing industry.
In the coming months we will commemorate the generous deeds of these two stewards of our community, culminating with a bronze sculpture in Johnson Park detailing their generous lives.
Boonville Now! would like to include everyone in our community on this project. Boonville Now ! would like to extend an opportunity for you to leave your mark in history by participating in our Johnson Park Brick Campaign. Bricks will be personalized with your name or that of a loved one and installed into our brick pathways through the park.
