What is the Outdoor Classroom?
Inspired by our wetlands, we will create a 45,000 sq. ft. outdoor classroom in and around the drainage area east of the school’s parking lot. Benches and pathways will be incorporated into the study zones to provide safe areas for observation, discovery and data collection.
Our plans are to expand its hands-on, inquiry-based approach to education by not only converting the wetlands area of the schoolyard into a learning area, but by also adding:
*Music Area *Bat Houses *Outdoor Science Lab *Art Area
*Pollinator Garden *Native Plant Finder Area *Digging Area
We have come so far in this community project due to the generous grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), but we still need your help. Please consider purchasing a personalized, engraved brick to be installed along the entrance pathway to our Outdoor Classroom. This brick will stand in perpetuity as a reminder, not just of your contribution in making the Outdoor Classroom a reality, but could also serve to honor a family member, to memorialize a loved one, to thank a friend, or simply to include your family’s name as one who helped realize this dream so our students in Windsor may experience nature and all it has to offer!
