Victim Outreach Inc. (VOI) is launching a campaign to raise funds to be shared with VOI and The Courage Garden.
VOI is a non-profit organization that provides police based services (such as emotional support, information and resources) to victims of crime and trauma who report to 8 communities in Jefferson County, Colorado. With the help of a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, we respond to crisis calls 24/7 and serve over 5,000 people a year.
The Courage Garden was established in 1998, is a memorial garden for victims of crime and for valued county employees. Located behind the Jefferson County Courthouse, this jewel in our community brings comfort to survivors who wish to honor their loved ones and is recognized as a place of respite and peace for those going through painful trials.
An Annual Courage Walk is held at the Courage Garden every spring during National Crime Victim's Rights Week. Donations help with maintaining the Courage Garden and help fund community efforts to promote victim's rights and ensure victims of crime get needed assistance. Because of the pandemic, the 2020 Walk was canceled – only the 2nd time in our 25 year history (the first was a major snowstorm). After 24 years, the roof of the beloved Gazebo needs to be replaced.
You can help! Donor’s bricks may be purchased for $100, engraved either in honor of a loved one or with the donor’s name and will be placed at the courage garden to create a patio and paths. The first bricks will be set in a spiral, a symbol that represents the journey and change of life as it unfolds, aligned with the Garden’s purpose: “dedicated to the courage of those who reclaim their lives and move beyond victimization. The patio will begin just above the pond in an area where benches of three fallen officers have been placed. Won’t this be beautiful! Thank you for your support of this important project.
