Welcome to Orphans’ Friend #17 Masonic Lodge’s Commemorative Walkway Fundraiser homepage! We’d like to tell you a little bit about our history, this project and why we’re asking for your support but first, we want to thank you in advance for your generous contribution! Oprhans’ Friend is a lodge with a deep and rich history in both Anderson and in Texas. As the #17 reflects, we were the 17th Lodge founded in Texas. In fact, we’re one of only a handful of Lodges in the State that was founded, by warrant, under the Republic of Texas. Our original log cabin Lodge building was in the heart of Anderson Texas and it is from Anderson that the Lodge was instrumental in developing what would become the future public school system in the State of Texas. After donating our land and Lodge building to the budding school system in Anderson we relocated our Lodge to the center of Anderson right off Main St. where we enjoyed many, many years of brotherly love, fellowship and deep involvement with our community. Sometime later, we again relocated to Carlos Texas. Then, several years ago we lost our land and Lodge building to the State of Texas through eminent domain. So, we took the opportunity to move back to Anderson. And as a result, we now have 3 cornerstones! However, it has not been an easy move and though we have a bare bones Lodge building we have exhausted all of our financial resources except our operating expenses and scholarship programs. Which brings us to our Commemorative Brick Walkway. We decided that there was no better way to raise the necessary funds needed to complete our new Lodge building while also honoring the long, rich history of our Lodge, the Brothers and other Lodges that have helped us along the way than with a Commemorative Brick Walkway leading to all three of our cornerstones!
